How Miz Mooz Improved Seasonal Buying and Achieved 5.6% Revenue Growth YoY

Achieved 5.6% Revenue Growth YoY

With better visibility into true product demand, Miz Mooz is taking the guesswork out of seasonal buying, improving inventory decisions, and building a more efficient planning process as the business grows.

The Challenge

Miz Mooz sources and manufactures its footwear collections in Europe, making two major inventory commitments each year. With thousands of pairs across dozens of styles and colors to order months before they reach customers, every buying decision carries significant risk.

Buy too little of a bestseller, and the team risks losing sales during peak season or paying for costly emergency air freight. Buy too much of an underperforming style, and excess inventory ties up valuable cash that could be invested in the next season.

Miz Mooz was planning these buys with data that hid the real demand:

  • Stockouts hid lost sales. A style that logged 134 pairs sold may have had demand for 200 or more, but nobody could see that when the season was reviewed.
  • Core styles and new launches were mixed together, so new launches had no benchmark.
  • Full-price and markdown sales were blended. Once a style went on sale, its figures no longer showed full-price performance.
  • Size curves were based on gut feel. Sizes that sold out for weeks looked weaker than they were.
  • Factory constraints made every commitment riskier. Some European factories can't take in-season reorders without air freight.

The Results

After moving to Conative, Miz Mooz was able to:

This allowed Miz Mooz to:

  • See Stockout Losses for the First Time: Conative tracks stockout periods for each style, color and size, and estimates the revenue lost while out of stock. For top styles such as Labo, Duke and Savina, the team can now quantify what was left on the table.
  • Measure New Style Performance: Core vs. new tagging by launch season shows the revenue share from new introductions, their full-price sell-through, and which new styles earned a place in the core lineup.
  • See True Margin by Style: Conative logs each markdown date and splits sales into full-price and markdown periods, showing which styles held their price.
  • Set Size Splits by Real Demand: Style-specific size curves, corrected for stockouts, flag gaps such as larger sizes of the Anna and recommend a size split based on actual demand.
  • Focus Planning on the 70%: About 65–70% of revenue comes from core carryover styles. Seasonal Planning Mode forecasts each one and suggests a buy quantity by style, color and size.

Using the product performance analytics and forecasting tools, we can make more calculated and informed decisions about inventory management. This has helped us improve our cash flow and manage our stock better as our business grows.
